About SMART FORFOUR

The Smart Forfour is a car from the German manufacturer Daimler that has been marketed throughout history in two different versions:

Unlike its little brother, the Smart Fortwo, this model has a capacity for four passengers. It has had a total of 2 generations to date.

The first generation of the Smart Forfour was manufactured using the Mitsubishi Colt platform. It is a model posterior to the Fortwo, as its first version went on sale in 2004. Despite the success reaped by the Fortwo, the Forfour was a failure. It was very poor at a dynamic level, and its price was high enough to consider other options. In 2006, DaimlerChrysler decided to stop selling the model.

In 2014, Daimler decided to revive the model, thus creating a second generation. On this occasion, the Fortwo would be a segment A city car with 5 doors. The vehicle was developed in collaboration with Renault, using a joint platform with the Twingo, as agreed by Daimler and the Renault Alliance.

Starting in 2017, the Forfour had an electric version called the Smart EQ Forfour. It was this variant that remained from 2019 onwards, although the brand stopped producing it in 2021 to make way for other new models with new body styles.
