About SMART ROADSTER

The Smart Roadster is a two-door, two-seat sports car manufactured by Smart GmbH. It was launched in 2002 and ceased production in mid-2006.

To build the Roadster, Daimler's company used the same platform as the Fortwo, but lengthened. The brand's idea was to manufacture a vehicle reminiscent of classic British roadsters, such as the MG B or the Triumph Spitfire. The Roadster was produced in two variants: convertible and coupé. It could be purchased with a removable roof (known as a Targa) or with an electric soft top.

Both models also had a version tuned by Brabus, something common for this brand. The production version of this model developed 101 hp, featuring a sports exhaust and a fully exclusive interior. The television show Top Gear awarded this vehicle the "Funniest Car of the Year 2005" award. Despite this, sales were not as good as expected. On the other hand, Brabus created a limited edition of 10 units of the Smart Roadster in 2003, combining two three-cylinder blocks to form a 1.4-liter V6 engine that developed 170 hp and 220 Nm of maximum torque. It accelerated from 0 to 100 in less than 6 seconds thanks to weighing barely around 845 kilograms.
