Jeep Commander — TIMING CHAIN OR BELT?

MODEL LIST - (UPDATED 2023)

| Home / Jeep / List of Jeep Commander Models without Timing Belt

The Jeep Commander is an off-road vehicle (D-segment in Europe) manufactured by the American marque Jeep. It has a total of two generations, the first one being launched in 2005.

The first-generation Jeep Commander was produced in 2005 under the Chrysler umbrella. It was a five- or seven-passenger alternative to the Jeep Liberty / Cherokee in the United States, aimed at customers who wanted an SUV with three rows of seats. Although it had two rows of seats like the Jeep Grand Cherokee, it was only two inches longer and was built on the same platform.

The Jeep Commander was offered with three different four-wheel-drive systems: Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II. The Quadra-Trac I system was available on models with the 3.7L engine, and is a full-time system requiring no driver intervention. Quadra-Trac II, meanwhile, was available on V8-engine models, and is also a full-time system with the added features of a low range and neutral towing position.

The second-generation Jeep Commander was introduced in 2021, and went on sale in 2022. It is a vehicle based on the second-generation Jeep Compass, only stretched to add more room. This Commander has been reserved exclusively for emerging economies, such as India (where it is marketed as Jeep Meridian) and Latin America. It is positioned just above the Jeep Compass. It is available only with front-wheel drive and has several engine configurations, highlighting the 2-liter turbodiesel engine that generates 170 hp.
