The DS 3 or Citroën DS 3 is a subcompact utility car (B-segment in Europe) by the French brand DS Automobiles, which is Citroën’s premium brand under the umbrella of PSA (now Stellantis). Its first version dates back to 2009 and was named Citroën DS3. From 2016, it began to be sold directly under the DS logo with the DS 3 designation. It was sold until 2019, when PSA decided that the continuation to this type of vehicle would have better sales if they focused on the SUV segment. Thus, the DS 3 Crossback was born.
The cabrio version of the DS 3 would arrive in 2013. It replaced the C3 Pluriel. It was first presented at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The aim of this convertible was to rival the Fiat 500c.
The DS 3 body styles are both 3-door hatchback and 3-door convertible. All versions are mid-engine and front-wheel drive. It is produced on the PSA PF1 platform. The model also underwent a redesign in 2016 before finally being discontinued at the end of 2019.
The range of engines of the DS 3 is very varied, equipping gasoline engines VTi and Puretech on the one hand and HDI, Blue HDI and e-HDI on the other. There are also sportier versions of this car, called DS 3 Racing and DS 3 Performance. In addition, some competition versions were created, such as the DS3 R3 or DS 3 R5 for rallying, homologated for WRC.
Among its rivals we can find the Mini Hatchback, Fiat 500 / 500c, Audi A1 or even the Abarth Punto. There is only one generation of this vehicle.
