Audi A1 — TIMING CHAIN OR BELT?

MODEL LIST - (UPDATED 2023)

| Home / Audi / List of Audi A1 Models without Timing Belt

The Audi A1 is a subcompact car (B-segment in Europe) manufactured by the German automaker Audi. As of today, it is manufactured on the Volkswagen Group’s PQ25 platform, shared with Seat Ibiza, Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid. It is the smallest vehicle manufactured by the brand. The closest antecedent to the Audi A1 dates back to the 70s, when the Audi 50 was marketed. However, VAG eventually got rid of this model in favor of the Volkswagen Polo.

There are 2 generations of the Audi A1. The first generation was born in 2010. With this model, Audi wanted to compete directly with BMW and its Mini brand in the high-end “utilitarian” segment. The model is aimed at a young audience, with a slightly sporty look that has been accentuated over time and the various revisions and equipment packages available (SE, Sport and S Line). Unlike the other models of the marque, the A1 has no direct Mercedes-Benz or BMW competitors. Its most direct rival would be the Mini Hatchback, since Mini belongs to BMW. Other alternatives could be the DS3 and the Alfa Romeo MiTo.

Audi A1 II – Second Generation (GB) (2018)

The second-generation Audi A1 began to be marketed in 2018. Audi opted to make a much more aggressive and groundbreaking design than its predecessor. It had a more sporty and youthful character, moving away from the typical utilitarian.

For this new generation, the German brand decided to keep only the Sportback body, so fashionable at the time among its various models. In addition, it added the Citycarver body, which stood out with its higher height and was halfway between the A1 and the Q2, without being an SUV entirely.
