Skoda Rapid — TIMING CHAIN OR BELT?

MODEL LIST - (UPDATED 2023)

| Home / Skoda / List of Skoda Rapid Models without Timing Belt

The Skoda Rapid is a small estate car (C-segment in Europe) by the Czech brand Škoda and manufactured by the Volkswagen Group. Skoda has used the name “Rapid” countless times since 1935. The name was first used to baptize a finish of the classic Skoda. Later it would be used for the first generation Rapid, from 1980. Then it would be used to make a sedan variant of the Skoda Fabia, which was marketed exclusively in India.

The European model of the Skoda Rapid is formally called Skoda Rapid (2012). It is a compact passenger car based on the A05 PQ25 platform of the Volkswagen Group (to be specific, it uses the A05+ variant, which is a widened version of the platform). As usual in Skoda, the Rapid uses a platform designed for a vehicle of another segment. In this case, the platform used is the one usually used by VAG to manufacture B-segment cars, such as the Volkswagen Polo. Other vehicles that are built with the same base are the Seat Toledo Mk4 and the Volkswagen New Jetta, which is sold exclusively in China.

The model had two body styles in Europe, liftback and estate, called Spaceback. A sedan version was sold in China. In Russia, the model goes its own way as a sedan version of the Scala. Skoda Scala is in turn the successor to the European Skoda Rapid, which arrived in 2019.
