About LAND ROVER DISCOVERY SPORT
The Land Rover Discovery Sport is a D-segment SUV produced by Jaguar Land Rover, a subsidiary of Tata Motors. The Discovery Sport is the compact version of the Land Rover Discovery. It has replaced the Land Rover Freelander since 2014.
To date, the Land Rover Discovery Sport has had a total of 2 generations. The first-generation Land Rover Discovery Sport is built on the JLR D8 or LR-MS Platform, modified so that the vehicle has off-road capabilities. This platform is also used in the manufacture of the Range Rover Evoque and the Jaguar E-Pace, as well as other Tata vehicles such as the Safari or the Harrier. The platform is an evolution of the Ford EUCD platform, inherited from the era when Land Rover was owned by the American brand.
The second generation uses Jaguar Land Rover's PTA platform (Premium Transverse Architecture), which is also shared with the second-generation Evoque and the E-Pace. This new platform is an evolution of the E8 platform that allows for the construction of purely combustion, mild-hybrid, and electric variants.
