About RANGE ROVER EVOQUE
The Range Rover Evoque (also known as the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque) is a C-segment luxury compact SUV from the British manufacturer Land Rover, parent company of Jaguar Land Rover and owned by Tata Motors. The Evoque was born in 2011 as a luxury "coupé" off-road vehicle, despite having already been seen at various auto shows in previous years under the name Land Rover LRX concept. Its intention was to compete with other high-end SUVs to take advantage of the segment opening up at that time. Its sales have been a complete success so far.
The Range Rover Evoque is the smallest model in the British brand's portfolio. It is positioned just below the Range Rover Sport. The SUV body style can be purchased in 3 and 5-door versions. In addition, the Evoque also features a convertible version, adding more points to its sporty character. This convertible cabrio variant is strictly 2-door. Furthermore, this vehicle offers front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. Overall, the Range Rover Evoque was a breakthrough vehicle upon its release and garnered a good number of awards during the period between 2010 and 2012.
As for its engines, it features Ford and Jaguar powerplants. During the first generation, Land Rover's ties with Ford allowed the Evoque to mount engines from that brand: EcoBoost in the gasoline models and Duratorq in the more powerful diesel versions. In the standard 2-liter diesel versions, Jaguar Land Rover Ingenium engines were used.
With the arrival of the second and current generation, Jaguar Land Rover began releasing the first hybrid versions of the Evoque with Ingenium diesel and gasoline engines. Therefore, 48-volt Mild Hybrid (MHEV) models and plug-in hybrids (PHEV) with a 15 kWh battery were released. This current generation uses the group's JLR PTA platform, which is an evolution of the D8 platform.
The Evoque has a total of 2 generations to date. Its closest predecessor could be the 3-door Land Rover Freelander Sport.
Regarding the competition, the Range Rover Evoque is an alternative to the Audi Q3 Sportback, the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, the Volvo XC40, the BMW X1, the Acura RDX, the Lexus UX, and even the Jaguar E-Pace from its own automotive group.
