Mitsubishi Eclipse — TIMING CHAIN OR BELT?

MODEL LIST - (UPDATED 2023)

| Home / Mitsubishi / List of Mitsubishi Eclipse Models without Timing Belt

The Mitsubishi Eclipse is a sports car manufactured by the Japanese marque Mitsubishi. The first model began to be sold in 1989. It was marketed for 4 generations until 2012. Years later, the Japanese brand decided to recycle this name for the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross.

The first Mitsubishi Eclipse was a simple coupé with an in-line 4-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive. Only the most complete version (Eclipse GSX) had four-wheel drive. It had both naturally aspirated and turbo engines.

The second generation underwent a major redesign, featuring more rounded and modern shapes. It became quite popular in its segment. It had coupe and convertible versions, and was produced on the Mitsubishi D or Chrysler PJ platform.

The third generation of the Mitsubishi Eclipse was built on the Chrysler ST-22 platform, also with coupe and spyder versions.

The fourth and last generation of the Mitsubishi Eclipse was sold between 2005 and 2012 and was produced on the Mitsubishi PS platform. There was a redesign in 2009.

Alternatives to this vehicle include the Hyundai Tiburon and the Toyota MR2.
