About PORSCHE MACAN

The Porsche Macan is a D-segment luxury SUV developed by the German brand Porsche, owned by the Volkswagen Group. Originally, Porsche was going to continue naming its SUV vehicles after spices, as the Macan was originally known as Cajun (which in turn would be an acronym for Cayenne Junior). It shares a platform with the rest of the high-performance SUV vehicles of the VAG Group. The Macan was born in 2014 as a smaller version of the Cayenne. It uses VAG's MLB/MLP platforms and specifically, it is based on the Audi Q5.

The Macan is produced in Leipzig, along with the Panamera and the Cayenne. It features gasoline and diesel engines, as well as versions with different performance levels. Some of the names under which this luxury crossover is marketed are Macan S, Macan S Diesel, Macan GTS, and Macan Turbo. There are versions with four-wheel drive and a fully electric version of this vehicle, the Macan EV with a dual motor, is also expected.

Among the competitors of the Macan are the BMW X3, the Mercedes GLC, the Volvo XC60, the Jaguar F-Pace, and its sibling the Audi Q5. So far, there is only one generation of this vehicle.
