About PORSCHE BOXSTER / 718 SPYDER

The Porsche Boxster is a luxury sports car developed by the German brand Porsche, owned by the Volkswagen Group. Both the Boxster and the Cayman are the same vehicle, with the body style being their only difference. The Porsche Boxster has a Roadster body style, while the Cayman is a Fastback Coupé. Throughout their generations, both the Boxster and the Cayman have been sold separately under their own names. Currently, the Boxster and Cayman are sold under the name Porsche 718, in its GT4, Cayman, and Spider variants.

The first version of the Boxster hit the market in 1996, also known as the Porsche 986. It featured a 6-cylinder boxer engine with a displacement of 2.5 liters, although later the Boxster S variants with 2.7 and 3.2 liters arrived. The Cayman was born after the second generation of the Boxster, in the year 2005.

There are 4 generations of the Boxster. Some competitors with which it shared the market no longer exist or have not been continued, such as the Honda S2000. Its current rivals are the Mazda MX-5, the Nissan 370Z, the Mercedes-Benz SLC-Class (formerly SLK), the BMW Z4, or the Audi TT in its Roadster versions.
