The Subaru Forester is a compact crossover SUV (C-segment in Europe) manufactured by the Japanese marque Subaru. It has been present on the market since 1997. It is built on the same platform as the Subaru Impreza and its smaller sister, the Subaru XV / Crosstrek. The Forester is the same segment as the Subaru XV / Crosstrek, although the Forester is a longer, roomier vehicle with with better finishes and a slightly superior price.

The Subaru Forester has five generations to date. It competes against other compact SUVs of its category, such as the Toyota RAV4, the Nissan X-Trail or the Honda CR-V.
