Chrysler PT Cruiser — TIMING CHAIN OR BELT?

MODEL LIST - (UPDATED 2023)

| Home / Chrysler / List of Chrysler PT Cruiser Models without Timing Belt

The Chrysler PT Cruiser is a compact car (C-segment in Europe) by the American automaker Chrysler. Despite its short life, its manufacture depended on three different automotive groups: DaimlerChrusler (2000 – 2007), Chrysler LLC (2007 – 2009) and Chrysler Group LLC (2009 – 2010).

Its name means “Personal Transport” Cruiser and its design is inspired by several classic Plymouth models. The PT Cruiser is a hatchback, but unlike a traditional hatchback, it has only 4 doors. Its peculiar design has always created discussions about its bodywork, as it is halfway between a family car ( station wagon) and what we would later know as a compact crossover.

The PT Cruiser is only one generation old, although it underwent a redesign in 2006. This facelift also introduced the cabrio or convertible version. It uses a proprietary platform, the Chrysler PT Platform, and its layout is mid-engine and front-wheel drive.

Regarding the engines, the diesel versions of the PT Cruiser were produced by Mercedes Benz, an obvious move, since the company was owned by Daimler AG during part of the period in which this compact was marketed, which ended its production early in 2010.
