About LANCIA LYBRA
The Lancia Lybra is a D-segment sedan manufactured by the Italian brand Lancia. It was produced in a single generation between 1998 and 2005, replacing the Lancia Dedra. In addition to the saloon, it was also sold in an estate version.
The Lancia Lybra went on sale in 1998. It was available in 4-door saloon and 5-door estate versions. It was manufactured at the Rivalta and Mirafiori plants in Turin, Italy. It was based on the Alfa Romeo 156 platform (Fiat's Tipo 2 revision 3 platform) and came to replace the Lancia Dedra. Its distinctive design was carried out by the Centro Stile Lancia under the direction of Enrico Fumia, Mike Robinson, and Flavio Manzoni.
The Lybra offered a wide range of 4-cylinder petrol engines of 1.6, 1.8, and 2.0 litres, as well as 1.9 and 2.4 JTD diesel engines. Transmissions were a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed sequential automatic.
Lybra sales were lower than expected, with just over 160,000 units in total. Its rivals were cars such as the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, or the Alfa Romeo 156 itself.
