About LANCIA Y10

The Lancia Y10 is an A-segment city car from the Italian manufacturer Lancia. It was manufactured between 1985 and 1995 and was sold in most export markets under the Lancia brand. However, internationally it is known as the Autobianchi Y10. The Y10 was designed by Tom Tjaarda and was based on the Fiat Panda platform. There was only one generation, although it had three series in total.

The first generation of the Lancia Y10 was launched in 1985. It was available with a variety of petrol and diesel engines, ranging from 999 cc to 1301 cc. The Y10 was also available with front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

The second series of the Lancia Y10 was launched in 1989. The exterior and interior of the car were redesigned, and new engines were added. This Y10 was also available with an automatic transmission. Shortly after, in 1992, the vehicle received a final redesign.

As a point of interest, the Lancia Y10 was the first production car to use an Omega rigid axle rear suspension. It was also one of the first automobiles to offer a continuously variable transmission (CVT), a system widely used in modern cars.

The main competitors of the Lancia Y10 were the Fiat Panda, the Renault 5, and the Peugeot 205.
