Infiniti G — TIMING CHAIN OR BELT?

MODEL LIST - (UPDATED 2023)

| Home / Infiniti / List of Infiniti G Models without Timing Belt

The Infiniti G is a compact executive car (D-segment in Europe) manufactured by the Japanese automaker Nissan, under its premium brand Infiniti. The first version of the Infiniti G dates back to 1990. The model was a rebadged version of the Nissan Primera.

The first generation Infiniti was a vehicle that the brand used as an entry-level luxury car in the United States. It was marketed between 1990 and 2002 under the name Infiniti G20 (P10) and as Nissan Primera in Europe. In 1998, the United States would receive a second generation Infiniti G20 (P11). The first generation model was marketed with 4-door sedan body and a single 2-liter engine. There was also a first-generation model called Infiniti G20t, with an electric sunroof, leather interior and a sporty spoiler. Regarding the second generation, it underwent some changes regarding suspension, inheriting the multi-link system of other models of the group and a more modern aesthetic.

The real change came with the third generation model, known as Infiniti G35 (V35), with a line more similar to the Infiniti M and with a much sportier line, breaking with the previous two generations. The G35 was built on the Nissan FM platform, shared with the Nissan 350z and Infiniti FX. It was a highly valued model thanks to its good weight distribution. It was sold in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. Regarding the bodywork, it had two: sedan and coupe.

The fourth and last generation of the Infiniti G was launched in 2007 with the G25, G35 and G37 models, all under the V36 code. Starting in 2013, the coupe models of this car were renamed Infiniti Q60, and the sedan version did the same in 2014, renaming to Infiniti Q40. The model was revised in 2009 with very minor changes, but the convertible body was added, giving birth to the Infiniti G37 cabrio.

There are quite a few alternatives to the Infiniti G. The sedan version competes against the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Lexus IS, Volvo S60 and Acura TLX. The coupe version has the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe, Lexus RC, BMW 3 Series, Audi A5 and Ford Mustang as alternatives. And, regarding the convertible, it has tough rivals such as the BMW 4 Series.
