About MG ZR
The MG ZR is a C-segment compact car produced by the British manufacturer MG Rover. It was manufactured between 2001 and 2005 at the Longbridge plant in Birmingham, United Kingdom. It is the successor to the MG Metro and was later replaced by the MG 3, although by then the brand had become the property of the Chinese manufacturer SAIC. The MG ZR was produced in a single generation between 2001 and 2005. It was based on the Rover 25 and was offered in 3-door and 5-door hatchback body styles, as well as an estate version called the MG Express.
It was offered with petrol versions featuring 1.4 (103 hp), 1.8 (117 hp), and 1.8 VVC (160 hp) engines from the K-Series family. There were also diesel variants featuring the 2.0 L-Series turbodiesel engine with 101 hp or 113 hp. The platform was the same as that of the Rover 25. In 2004, it received a facelift designed by Peter Stevens, featuring changes to the bumpers, headlights, tailgate, and interior.
Despite the fact that MG Rover was not going through its best moment, in 2004 this was the group's best-selling MG. It was a quite popular vehicle among young people. Among its notable competitors were the Opel Astra, the Ford Focus, and the Renault Megane, among others.
