It is not something that usually happens to us very often, but on more than one occasion, we are walking down the street and see a vehicle that catches our attention and we are unable to identify the brand. This has recently happened with the emergence of Chinese brands like Lynk & Co or DFSK, and it is sure to become a common occurrence over the next few years.
However, there is one vehicle brand that has been drawing a lot of attention in recent months. A brand with a logo that looks like it says “KN”. What is it about?
“KN”, a fairly well-known brand
And the aforementioned logo does not refer to KN, but to KIA with a rather futuristic typography. The Korean brand updated its logo during 2020, although the change has not really been noticed until practically entering 2022. The Koreans’ idea with this new branding is to convey much more powerful brand values regarding electrification. The new logo is also accompanied by a new slogan ‘Movement that inspires’, which could be translated into Spanish as ‘Movimiento que inspira’.
Why is it so hard to recognize the brand?

There are many vehicle brands that are updating their logos lately. Almost all car firms have taken advantage of this new paradigm shift to update their logos and show themselves to the world as a more ecological and modern alternative.
However, many people have failed to read ‘KIA’ in that logo. And it’s normal. Not only is the logo difficult to read, but it has been launched with a new batch of vehicles that have little to do with the previous generation. With so many changes happening simultaneously, it becomes harder to associate the logo with a previously known car model.

Just in case there are still doubts, here we leave you an image of the new logo with the separated letters and the firm’s new slogan.
Evolution of the KIA logo

This is not the first time Kia has changed its logo. As we can see in this infographic, the South Korean vehicle brand has undergone a major evolution in terms of logos. Since its birth in 1944, Kia has already had a total of 6 logos on its vehicles, although until now, the changes between the 1994 one and the one we stopped seeing in 2020 were very subtle.
A historic moment for Kia

Now that the doubt has been resolved, it is worth noting that it is a very good time for both Kia and Hyundai. Kia is going to close 2022 as the best-selling brand to private individuals in Spain. In fact, it already closed 2021 ahead of the rest of the manufacturers, something admirable, since last year was one of the toughest remembered in the automotive industry.

During 2022, Kia has updated practically its entire vehicle range. They started with the Sportage, a model that has sold like hotcakes and has premiered a new platform. The SUV has incorporated both hybrid variants and PHEV (plug-in) versions with 13.8 kWh batteries.

Shortly after came the second-generation Kia Niro, also with a redesigned look and many modern touches. In addition to the new infotainment system, the Niro is now sold with HEV, PHEV, and 100% electric versions.

Continuing with electrification, in the final stretch of the year the Kia EV6 GT has gone on sale, a fully electric crossover that has become the most powerful vehicle manufactured by the Korean brand. With its two motors, this vehicle reaches 585 hp.
