The Suzuki Swace is a family car in the (C-segment in Europe) from the Japanese marque Suzuki. It is a vehicle manufactured by Toyota. Specifically, it is a rebadged version of the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports. The two Japanese brands reached an agreement in order to lower Suzuki’s CO2 emissions quota in Europe and thus be able to continue marketing its brand in that market.
The Suzuki Swace follows the same technique as previously done with the Suzuki Across. With no hybrid models in Suzuki’s portfolio, the Japanese company was going to face heavy fines. For this reason, Suzuki entered into an agreement with Toyota to market its family car as a flagship model.
The differences between the Swace and the Toyota Touring Sports are minimal, and are limited only to cosmetic modifications. Specifically, the Swace is a Touring Sports 1.8 Hybrid with a 122 hp hybrid petrol engine. Unlike the Toyota version, the Swace is sold with only one engine. It also has certain limitations in terms of trim.
The Swace has a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and is ECO-labelled in Spain. It is available in GLE and GLX configurations.
