Suzuki SX4 / S-Cross — TIMING CHAIN OR BELT?

MODEL LIST - (UPDATED 2023)

| Home / Suzuki / List of Suzuki SX4 Models without Timing Belt

The Suzuki SX4 is an automobile (B/C-segment in Europe) manufactured by the Japanese Suzuki marque. This model is generally known for its crossover body style, although it has hatchback and sedan variants. The SX4 has been marketed since 2006, and its acronym stands for ‘Sports X-over 4 Seasons‘, meaning that it is a sporty all-season vehicle. There are 3 generations of this vehicle.

The first generation Suzuki SX4 went into production in 2005. Suzuki’s idea at the time was to make mini SUVs and compact SUVs, with cars such as the Jimny and Vitara already on the market. The original SX4 model was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, and replaced the Suzuki Liana. Its body known as a ‘hatchback’ was actually a 5-door crossover design. In 2007, the SX4 began to be sold in a sedan body in Asia and some European countries, replacing the Suzuki Aerio. Throughout this generation, the vehicle underwent numerous restylings in its various markets. The platform used for this model was Suzuki’s A-segment platform.

In 2013, Suzuki launched the SX4 S-Cross. This model did not make it to the United States and Canada; the brand had decided to withdraw from the North American market due to low sales. Subsequently, in 2016, the vehicle received a new front-end design, a complete redesign of the rear end, and a much more modern centre console. New turbocharged direct injection engines were also introduced, sourced from the Vitara and Swift.

The third and current generation of this vehicle arrived to the market in 2021. Its body is now considered a five-door SUV. As with the previous model, it has afront-engine and a front-wheel drive or AllGrip four-wheel drive. The vehicle is produced on the Suzuki Global C platform. This new version features HEV and MHEV hybrid variants.
