Suzuki Swift — TIMING CHAIN OR BELT?

MODEL LIST - (UPDATED 2023)

| Home / Suzuki / List of Suzuki Swift Models without Timing Belt

The Suzuki Swift is a subcompact hatchback (B-segment in Europe) manufactured by the Japanese marque Suzuki. The first Suzuki Swift was born in Japan, but the model marketed in Europe was known as the Suzuki Ignis. Later, from 2006 onwards, Suzuki used the Swift brand name for the subcompact or utility vehicle we know in the West, establishing this name for the global model.

As usual with Suzuki and other Japanese marques, the Swift has been sold under a multitude of brands and names. In Japan, the model was called Suzuki Cultus until the model was internationalised. On the other hand, agreements with General Motors allowed the Cultus to be sold in North America under other brands such as Geo Metro, Chevrolet Metro or Pontiac Firefly.

The first generation global Swift was launched at the 2004 Paris Motor Show. It was based on the Cultus and achieved good EuroNCAP safety ratings. Even today, Suzuki Swift is car that easily tops the reliability rankings thanks to its mechanical simplicity.

There are 3 generations of this vehicle in its global version up to date. If you count all versions that have existed in different markets, there are five generations to date.
