Suzuki Wagon R — TIMING CHAIN OR BELT?

MODEL LIST - (UPDATED 2023)

| Home / Suzuki / List of Suzuki Wagon Models without Timing Belt

The Suzuki Wagon R is a MPV (A-segment in Europe) manufactured by the Japanese marque Suzuki. There are a total of 6 generations of this vehicle. The model has two variants. The main variant is the global version, while the secondary variant is the one marketed in India and Pakistan, which adds to about 3 generations in total.

The first generation Suzuki Wagon R arrived in 1993. It reused the same F6A 0.7 3-cylinder engines as the Suzuki Alto and other kei car variants of the Japanese brand. Later, in 1997, Suzuki would launch the Wagon R+, a slightly larger and wider model with a one-litre F10A 4-cylinder engine. At the same time, a more powerful 1.2-litre K12A version was also launched.

In 1998, Suzuki launched the second generation Wagon. This model was sold in Europe as the Wagon R+. The Opel Agila was also born from this model.

The third generation Wagon R returned to its origins. It was sold as a kei kar only and returned to the K6A engine. The Stingray variant was introduced in 2007, retaining the same engine, but in turbo version.

The fourth generation was launched in Japan in 2008. To the sporty Stingray version they added the Mazda-designed AZ-Wagon and AZ-Wagon Custom options. The engines remained the same, but new transmissions and a CVT version were added.

The big change came to the Wagon R in 2012, when the Japanese launched the first hybrid version of the car. This fifth generation began using the R06A engine with an electric motor. The same model would be sold at Mazda as Mazda Flair.

The sixth and current generation Wagon was launched in 2017. It is built on the Heartect A platform. It is a continuation of its predecessor, although it improved the entire hybrid system with a new, more capable battery.
