The Volvo S60 is a luxury passenger car (D-segment in Europe) of the Swedish marque Volvo and developed within the Chinese car holding company Geely. It has been in production since 2000. It is a vehicle with sedan body, front engine and front-wheel or four-wheel drive.

The S60 is the intermediate model between the Volvo S40 and the S80 / S90. It is also sold with estate or family body, under the name Volvo V60. Its performance versions are called Volvo S60 R.

There are a total of 3 generations of the Volvo S60 to date. The original model was based on the P2 platform, like the Volvo XC90. For the second generation, Volvo decided to use a platform shared with Ford, from which came vehicles such as the Ford Galaxy, Ford Mondeo or S-Max, as well as the Land Rover Freelander 2. Internally, this platform is considered “Volvo P3”. For the third generation, use is made of the scalable SPA platform.

The S60 competes with other high-end executive cars. These include the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series and Jaguar XE.
