Dodge Durango — TIMING CHAIN OR BELT?

MODEL LIST - (UPDATED 2023)

| Home / Dodge / List of Dodge Durango Models without Timing Belt

The Dodge Durango is an SUV (E-segment in Europe) manufactured by the American marque Dodge. It has a total of 3 generations to date.

The first generation of this vehicle was based on the Dodge Dakota, and also shared a platform with Chrysler’s minivans. It had capacity for seven passengers. Regarding engines, it had mainly Magnum V8 engines.

The second generation Dodge Durango was first shown as a concept in 2003. It was based on the Dodge Dakota and Ram Pickup. It was larger than the previous model and featured a third row of seats, giving it a seating capacity of eight. A new coil-spring rear suspension was introduced in 2004. In 2007, Dodge redesigned the model and the Chrysler Aspen was introduced as a luxury version of the Durango. A couple of years later, in 2009, a hybrid variant was introduced with a GM-designed two-stage system, which improved fuel economy, but was discontinued due to its factory shutdown.

The third generation Dodge Durango went on sale in early 2011. It shared a factory with the Jeep Grand Cherokee and shares assembly line, running gear, powertrains and chassis parts. The Durango features four engines with a 3.6-liter V6 as the base engine and a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 as an option. Both the V6 and V8 engines use an eight-speed ZF gearbox. In 2021, a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 was introduced for the SRT Hellcat trim level, but was discontinued in 2022 due to emissions regulations.

Some Dodge Durango’s competitors include the Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, Ford Expedition, GMC Yukon, Nissan Armada, Lexus LX, Acura MDX and Honda Pilot.
