The Jaguar XF is a passenger car (E-segment in Europe) manufactured by the British automaker Jaguar Cars, a subsidiary of Jaguar Land Rover. It succeeds the Jaguar S-Type since 2008, after being presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2007. The XF has two generations to date.

The first generation was built on the Ford EW98 platform. This is the same manufacturing platform used by the S-Type, the Lincoln LS and the Ford Thunderbird. This first generation underwent a facelift in 2011. A year later, a Sportbrake (Family Car) body was added to compete against the BMW 5 Series Touring, the Mercedes Benz CLS Shooting Brake and the Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon. These body variants were added to the Liftback and Saloon versions.

The second generation arrived in 2015. The visual lines of the original model were maintained, but the manufacturing proccess was transferred to a platform of its own, the JLR D7a. This platform is shared with the Jaguar XE, the Jaguar F-Pace, as well as several Land Rover and Range Rover vehicles with their different variations of the D7 platform.

In addition to those mentioned above, the Jaguar XF also competes against the Audi A6, the BMW 5 Series, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the Porsche Panamera.
