About ALFA ROMEO 159

The Alfa Romeo 159 is a D-segment sedan from the Italian automaker Alfa Romeo. Production began in 2005 as a replacement for the Alfa Romeo 156. The design was created by Giorgetto Giugiaro, following the same styling direction he had introduced in the third generation of the 156.

The car also features the front end previously introduced on the Brera, a coupe based on the same body platform. An estate version was also offered. In 2013, production of the vehicle was discontinued without a replacement. It was not until three years later, in 2016, that Alfa Romeo filled the segment with the Alfa Romeo Giulia.

The 159 is built on the Alfa Romeo/GM Premium platform, used exclusively for this model, the Brera, and the Spider. This project originated at a time when the collaboration between the Fiat Group and General Motors was still in place. Initially, this platform was also intended to be used to produce similar vehicles for Cadillac and Saab.

The Brera and the 159 were unveiled simultaneously at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show. The car was characterized by sporty yet elegant styling and an interior, as well as an aggressive front end. The model had only one generation, but structural improvements were made in 2008, reducing weight and adding more efficient engines.
