About ALFA ROMEO GTV
The Alfa Romeo GTV is a sports car with a coupe body style manufactured by Alfa Romeo. It was produced from 1995 to 2004, when it was replaced by the Alfa Romeo Brera. Its production run was quite short, with just over 42,000 units sold worldwide. There was only one generation of this vehicle. However, the name had already been used a few years earlier for its predecessor, the Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV (116).
The GTV was built on the same platform as other models from the Italian brand, such as the 155, 145, and 146. It also shared virtually all its components with the Spider—its convertible version—as well as the Fiat Coupé.
Throughout its production run, the GTV featured several special editions, such as the “GTV Cup,” which was launched in 1999 and was intended for single-make racing.
Like any true Alfa Romeo, the GTV stood out for its design, a task entrusted to Enrico Fumia at the Pininfarina studio. During its production run, the GTV underwent three restylings, as it was very important to the brand that this sports car look modern and up-to-date. In terms of power, the sports car was offered with various engine options, all gasoline-powered. The base model came with a 1.8 Twin Spark engine.
The slightly more powerful versions featured the same engine but with a 2-liter displacement. However, the most coveted versions of this Italian gem were equipped with various V6 engines, such as the 2.0-liter turbocharged V6 and the naturally aspirated 3.0- and 3.2-liter V6s. In short, the coupe was sold with power outputs ranging from 144 to 240 CV.
As for its competitors, the Alfa Romeo GTV went up against well-known models such as the Audi TT and the BMW Z3 Coupe. These vehicles, like the GTV, offered a sporty design and outstanding performance for driving enthusiasts.
