The BMW Z3 is a two-seater luxury sports car manufactured by the German marque BMW. It was produced between 1995 and 2002. The range included a 2-door roadster and a coupe. It was built on the platform for the BMW 3 Series E36.
The Z3 was the first mass-produced car of the Z Series, which would continue their line in 2002 with the BMW Z4. In addition to the standard versions, the BMW Z3 had ‘M‘ performance versions, which were introduced in 1998. They were available in both body styles with either the S50, S52 or S54 inline six-cylinder engine.
Fun Fact: the Z3 was the first BMW model manufactured exclusively outside Germany. Its production took place in Greer, South Carolina.
During the 1990s, there were several alternatives to the BMW Z3 in the two-seater sports car and convertible market. Some of the options were the Porsche Boxter, the Audi TT, the Mercedes-Benz SLK or the Mazda MX-5.
