The Chevrolet Cruze is a compact car (C-segment in Europe) manufactured by the American marque General Motors. The Cruze was born in 2010 to replace the Daewoo Lacetti, the result of the union of GM and Daewoo under the GM-Daewoo holding company. In some markets, it has continued to be marketed as Daewoo Lacetti Premiere. In Australia and other markets it is sold as Holden Cruze. It has been marketed in hatchback, sedan, liftback and estate body styles.

The Chevrolet Cruze is a vehicle that served to bring some order to the General Motors product portfolio. While it replaced the Daewoo / Chevrolet Lacetti in Europe, it did the same with the Chevrolet Cobalt in North America and the Chevrolet Optra in Asia and Canada. It also took over from the Chevrolet Astra in South American countries that are part of Mercosur.

During its first generation, the Chevy Cruze shared a platform with the Opel Astra J, as both were based on GM’s Delta II Platform. The second generation was built on GM’s D2XXX platform, also shared with the Astra K. Subsequently, the Opel Astra and Cruze would go their separate ways, as General Motors eventually sold the Opel and Vauxhall brands to the French PSA group in 2019.

In many markets such as Europe, the Cruze is no longer marketed. In the other niches in which it competes, the Cruze rivals vehicles such as the Renault Megane, Citroën C-Elysée, Hyundai i30, the Kia Ceed and Fiat Tipo, among others.
