The Kia Telluride is an SUV (E-segment in Europe) manufactured by the South Korean marque Kia Motors. It is the largest SUV in the brand’s portfolio.
The first generation of the Kia Telluride was presented as a concept car in 2016. It finally reached production in 2019, and began to be marketed from 2020 on. The Kia Telluride shares most of its components with the Hyundai Palisade. Like this other model, the Telluride has 3 rows of seats and a total of 8 seats. Shortly after its release, the Telluride was named Car of the Year 2020.
The Kia Telluride is the first Kia model to be designed specifically for the United States. In fact, its development was done at the Irvine Design Center, California. The Telluride is powered by 3.8-liter Atkinson-cycle V6 gasoline engines. It is available only with an 8-speed automatic transmission. There are both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions available.
At the moment, Hyundai does not plan to bring this model to other countries, which is the case with the Palisade. Kia’s strategy with this model is to make a niche among other competitors such as the Ford Explorer, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Subaru Ascent or Toyota 4Runner.
