About HONDA RIDGELINE
The Honda Ridgeline is a mid-size pickup truck from the Japanese manufacturer Honda. It is a model that has had two generations since its launch in 2005. It is also known as the Honda Sport Utility Truck.
The first generation of the Ridgeline was unveiled at the 2005 Detroit Auto Show and was developed specifically for the North American market. It was equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine with a maximum power output of 246 hp, mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. Drivetrain options included front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. One of its main features was the use of a unibody chassis, instead of the traditional body-on-frame chassis of conventional pickup trucks.
Another distinctive feature was its crew cab configuration with a single cab and short bed, as well as the transverse engine placement, which is unusual for pickup trucks but typical of passenger cars. The trunk was integrated into the cargo bed. In terms of safety, this first generation achieved 5 stars in the NHTSA frontal and side crash tests.
After a one-year hiatus, the second generation of the Ridgeline was introduced in 2017. It shares a large portion of its components with Honda's global platform for large vehicles, such as the Honda Pilot. The vehicle variants and even the engines were maintained. Compared to the first generation, Honda significantly reinforced the structure while reducing weight.
The main alternatives to the Honda Ridgeline throughout its commercialization have been models such as the Toyota Tacoma, the Nissan Frontier, the Chevrolet Colorado, or the Ford Ranger.
