The Volkswagen Arteon is a high-end fastback car (D-segment in Europe). It is the successor to the CC (or Volkswagen Passat CC), and was presented at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. It was primarily marketed with Fastback bodywork. In 2020, a Shooting Brake, plug-in Hybrid, and Sporty versions of the Volkswagen R Line variant were added for the first time along with a facelift of the original model.

The current generation —the only one so far— is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform. Some of its competitors are the Audi A5, the Ford Mondeo, Peugeot 508, Kia Stinger GT, Alfa Romeo Giulia, the Mercedes-Benz CLA and the BMW 4 Series.
