Volkswagen Fox: timing chain or timing belt information

About Volkswagen Fox

The Volkswagen Fox is a B-segment hatchback from the German manufacturer Volkswagen. The model has three distinct stages:

The first generation of the Latin American Fox was introduced in 2003. It was built on the PQ24 platform. It offered gasoline engines ranging from 1.0 to 1.6 liters, as well as some small-displacement diesel engines. In 2009, the gasoline engine lineup was updated with electronic fuel injection.

This first model was the only one to reach Europe, albeit updated with better safety equipment, which caused considerable controversy regarding market discrimination by Volkswagen itself. Furthermore, while in the Mercosur version it was possible to choose the Fox with a 3- or 5-door body style, in Europe only the former was available.

In 2010, the Fox underwent several aesthetic changes in its second phase, although this revision would no longer reach Europe. This model also received some more modern engines.

Finally, in 2015, the vehicle was completely redesigned on the outside, displaying a visual line more consistent with the rest of the brand's vehicles. Although the vehicle looks like a completely new generation, the truth is that the change corresponds more to a third phase. However, it can also be considered a second-generation model.

The Fox's main rivals were models such as the Chevrolet Agile, Fiat Palio, Ford Fiesta, Renault Clio, and Peugeot 207. In Europe, the Fox competed with city cars like the Peugeot 107, Toyota Aygo, or Renault Twingo.
