About PEUGEOT 508
The Peugeot 508 is a D-segment passenger car manufactured by the French automaker PSA (Stellantis). It was launched in 2010 as the successor to the Peugeot 407. Additionally, it is also considered a replacement for the Peugeot 607, as the 508 is practically the same size as that sedan. There have been a total of two generations of this vehicle to date.
The first generation of the 508 (2010-2018) was introduced at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. It shares its platform and a large portion of its engines with the second-generation Citroën C5. The engine lineup includes diesel and gasoline powerplants with outputs ranging from 112 to 204 hp. In 2011, the 204 hp Hybrid4 diesel hybrid variant was introduced.
The second generation was unveiled at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, featuring a design inspired by the Peugeot Instinct concept. The SW station wagon variant was revealed a few months later. It is built on the EMP2 platform, shared with other PSA group models such as the DS7 Crossback. It offers diesel and gasoline engines with outputs ranging from 128 to 180 hp. In 2020, the PSE high-performance variant with 355 hp of combined power was introduced. Similarly, it also features plug-in hybrid variants. Later, in 2023, the 508 received a restyling to align with Peugeot's new design language, pioneered by vehicles like the 308 and 408.
The 508 has won several major international awards, including the 2011 Car of the Year in Spain. All of its versions have achieved the maximum rating in the Euro NCAP safety test (5 stars). It enjoys a very good reputation and is sold in two body styles: Sedan and Estate (Station Wagon or SW). Among its competitors, we can mention the Ford Mondeo, Toyota Camry, Renault Talisman, Opel Insignia, or even the Kia Stinger.
