About CITROEN C5
The Citroën C5 is a D-segment passenger car manufactured by the French maker PSA (Stellantis). Production began in the year 2000 as a replacement for the Citroën Xantia, and its commercialization started a year later. It was the first of all Citroëns to inaugurate the modern "Cx" series, which had previously been used on the Citroën C4 and C6 back in 1930.
It is a front-wheel-drive vehicle with a transverse front engine. It has been sold in both sedan (fastback in its early days) and station wagon body styles. There are a total of 2 generations of this vehicle.
The first generation of the C5 shared platform parts with the Peugeot 407, but used its own hydropneumatic suspension so characteristic of the Citroën brand. The second generation ran between 2008 and 2017 and shared a platform with both its older brother, the Citroën C6, and the Peugeot 508. After this time, Citroën decided not to continue the model within Citroën, but rather in DS Automobiles. However, in 2021, Stellantis decided to revive the brand by launching the Citroën C5 X, a crossover version. The C5 is considered the last Citroën car to be equipped with hydractive suspension.
The Citroën C5 has had multiple competitors. Some of the most important ones have been the Volkswagen Passat, Toyota Avensis, Renault Laguna, Renault Talisman, Opel Vectra, Opel Insignia, and Honda Accord, among many others.
