About CITROEN C15
The Citroën C15 is a small van from the French manufacturer Citroën. It was produced from 1984 to 2006. Throughout this time, over a million units were built. The C15 was the successor to the Citroën Acadiane, which had replaced the vans based on the Citroën 2CV.
The C15 was based on the Citroën Visa and primarily used an XUD diesel engine in the early models, and a 1.9-liter XUD later on. Until the early 1990s, it was also available with a PSA TU gasoline engine.
The vehicle was available in different configurations, including a version with rear side windows and a rear seat, as well as a chassis version to allow conversion into a tow truck and other special configurations.
Thanks to its robustness and durability, a whole cult following has been created around the C15. In countries like Spain, the C15 quickly became a vehicle intended for the working class and the countryside. Many families in rural environments still have one today, which gives us an idea of the simplicity and quality that this humble van possessed.
The alternatives to the Citroën C15 in the van segment were vehicles like the Renault Express or the Seat Terra. In general, all these vehicles were very similar in terms of load capacity, fuel consumption, and reliability, although they did not achieve the success of the double chevron brand's van. There was only one generation of the Citroën C15, which stopped being manufactured in almost all PSA plants in December 2005.
The successor to the Citroën C15 was the Berlingo. However, in terms of dimensions and power, we could consider the Citroën Nemo as its spiritual successor within the French brand's catalog.
