About CITROEN ZX
The Citroën ZX is a C-segment compact car produced by the French manufacturer Citroën (PSA). It was offered in three-door and five-door hatchback bodies, as well as a five-door estate. The ZX was produced from 1991 to 1998. Its successor was the Citroën Xsara.
Work on the ZX project began in 1986, and the car was similar in size to the Citroën GS but completely different in its conception. The ZX's suspension was different, and some models featured a power-assisted braking system with anti-lock brakes to make braking easier. The design was developed by Bertone in collaboration with the Vélizy Design Center.
The ZX's gasoline engines ranged from 1.1 liters to 2.0 liters, with outputs from 60 hp to 163 hp. Diesel engines included the 1.8 D, 1.9 D (naturally aspirated), and 1.9 TD (turbodiesel), with outputs ranging from 60 hp to 92 hp, and torque from 110 Nm to 196 Nm.
Within its segment, the Citroën ZX competed with multiple alternatives, such as the Ford Escort, Opel Astra, Renault 19, and Volkswagen Golf. This vehicle had a single generation; however, the model did undergo a mid-cycle facelift.
Meanwhile, in China, a parallel development of this vehicle took place, including versions with van bodies. In the Asian giant, this model had several names, such as the Fukang 988 or the Citroën Elysée.
