About CITROEN SAXO

The Citroën Saxo is a subcompact utility car in the B segment manufactured by the French company PSA (currently Stellantis). It was produced starting in 1996 as a replacement for the Citroën AX and was also marketed as the Peugeot 106 with practically no changes other than some modifications to the dashboard and a slight redesign of the front headlights. Saxo production stopped in 2004, making way for the Citroën C2 and Citroën C3.

The Saxo had a single generation, albeit with a mid-cycle facelift. The vehicle was sold in 3-door and 5-door hatchback body styles. It had five engine options throughout its lifespan: one diesel and four gasoline. All engines were naturally aspirated. Part of the Saxo's charm was its low weight. Depending on the model, the vehicle weighed between 805 and 935 kilograms. This gave a great sense of lightness, and Citroën did not hesitate to launch three sporty versions of the Saxo: Westcoast, VTS 16V, and VTR.

The Saxo also had a rally version in the Kit Car category, which was later homologated in Super 1600. In the 1990s, this car also starred in the Citroën Saxo Cup, which made this model become an object of desire for many motor enthusiasts, especially in Spain. In 2021, a very similar cup emerged again, the Copa Saxo 8v. Youtubers like Garaje Hermético and Billy Cherokee participated in the race at the Jarama Circuit.
