About Renault Express
The Renault Express is a small van from the French manufacturer Renault. It has 2 generations in total, which are distributed as follows:
The first generation of the Renault Express, launched in 1985, was largely based on the Renault Supercinco, sharing many mechanical and structural components. This generation offered a range of "Cléon-Fonte" gasoline engines with displacements ranging from 956 cm³ to 1,397 cm³, and also introduced a 1.6-liter diesel engine.
In 1991, the Renault Express received its first major update, marking the beginning of the second phase. It introduced improvements in design and engine lineup, including the addition of the more modern and efficient 1.4-liter "Energy" engine with 80 hp, as well as the update of the diesel engine to a 1.9-liter. The aesthetic changes were moderate but sufficient to give it a fresher look aligned with 90s standards.
The final phase of the Renault Express began in 1994 and continued until the cessation of its production in 2000. During this period, the focus was on improving quality and equipment, offering optional features such as power steering, electric windows, and improved interior trim. Although mechanical changes were minimal, this generation solidified the Express's reputation as a reliable and practical vehicle for work. As for its alternatives, it competed primarily against the Citroën C15.
The second generation of the Renault Express was introduced in November 2020 and marketed starting in April 2021. It is positioned below the Renault Kangoo III, which was introduced at the same time. In Europe, it is only marketed in its commercial version. Outside of this territory, it is also available in a passenger version.
Regarding engines, it is available with a 1.3 L TCe gasoline engine with an output of 100 hp and 1.5 L dCi diesel engines with outputs of 75 and 95 hp. The transmission is a six-speed manual and the drivetrain is front-wheel drive.
