The Renault Arkana is a coupé SUV (C-segment in Europe) manufactured by the French marque Renault. It was originally launched in Russia in 2019 as a sporty-looking SUV based on the new B0+ platform. This was a variant of Renault’s B0 Platform, used by cars such as the Duster,the Captur or the Nissan Micra.
Subsequently, the Arkana would be marketed in South Korea and Europe from the end of 2020, although it used the CMF-B Platform instead. This is the platform used by Renault and Nissan together with Samsung, and is also designed to build B-segment vehicles, only in this case it would be adapted to make a vehicle of a higher segment. This practice is also very common in the VAG group with its variants of the MQB platform. The Korean model went on sale under the name Renault Samsung XM3, while in some Eastern European countries, the Arkana is marketed as Renault Megáne Conquest.
The Arkana is a crossover coupe with an interior reminiscent of a Renault Clio or a Renault Zoe. It has only turbo and hybrid gasoline engines. In the first case of the purely gasoline-engined version, the Arkana mounts a 1.3 tCe propellant. Regarding hybrids, there are versions with light hybridization “micro hybrid” (MHEV) and E-TECH versions (PHEV and HEV). There are also manual gearboxes with 5 and 6 gears, as well as variator versions (CVT) and a 7-speed automatic gearbox with DCT.
The Arkana’s position within the Renault Group is between the Captur and the Kadjar. Its competitors are hybrid SUVs such as the Mazda CX-30, the Toyota C-HR, the Ford Puma, the Peugeot 3008 or the Cupra Formentor among others. So far there is only one generation of this crossover.
