About RENAULT SYMBIOZ
The Renault Symbioz is a compact C-segment crossover automobile from the French brand Renault, manufactured by the automotive group at its plant in Valladolid, Spain. It takes its name from a homonymous conceptual prototype presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2017. The Symbioz is essentially an extended version of the Captur, positioned in the lineup to meet family space needs. It is sold exclusively in a 5-door SUV body style.
The current version uses the CMF-B HS Platform, sharing its base with the Renault Clio and the Nissan Juke. The first version of this model officially debuted in mid-2024, after being announced earlier that same year by the manufacturer. As a commercial engineering curiosity, Mitsubishi markets a cloned version via reverse engineering or rebadging under the historical nameplate of Mitsubishi Grandis.
It mainly competes with other vehicles in its segment that offer a compact crossover approach and electrified powertrains, a highly competitive niche in Europe. Notable rivals include the Peugeot 3008, Nissan Qashqai, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, and Toyota C-HR. There has been 1 generation so far, which stands out for a strong commitment to hybrid engines (both 1.3-liter Mild Hybrid systems and the efficient 1.6 E-Tech blocks, as well as the more recent 1.8-liter with a clutchless automatic transmission).
