About RENAULT RAFALE
The Renault Rafale is a D-segment coupe SUV from the French manufacturer Renault. It is the French brand's second coupe SUV after the Arkana. In Renault's lineup, the vehicle is positioned between the Arkana and the Espace VI.
The Rafale was unveiled in 2023 and went on sale in 2024. It shares the CMF-CD platform and numerous components with the Austral and Espace SUV, such as the windshield, A-pillar, and front doors.
To date, the Renault Rafale is only available with hybrid motorization in two versions. The first variant, E-Tech, is a full hybrid. It uses a 1.2-liter turbo gasoline engine and two electric motors. It is a front-wheel-drive vehicle and develops 200 hp. Alternatively, there is the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version, which uses the same gasoline engine and two electric motors. This version has all-wheel drive and a 9.8 kWh lithium-ion battery that allows for 50 km of electric range. It has a combined power output of 300 hp.
The name Rafale refers to a 1930s single-seat racing aircraft powered by a Renault engine. Interestingly, the brand already used this name in the 90s for sporty versions of the Renault 19 sold in Taiwan.
Being a D-segment SUV, but with a coupe body style, the Renault Rafale has very varied competitors. The diamond brand has replicated vehicles such as the Audi Q5 Sportback, the BMW X4, or the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe. However, since the Rafale is a model from a mainstream brand, the vehicle competes against other models that are not exactly identical, such as the Peugeot 408, the Citroën C5 X, or even the DFSK F5.
