About Peugeot 4008
The Peugeot 4008 is a C-segment SUV or crossover automobile from the French manufacturer PSA (currently Stellantis) produced by the Japanese company Mitsubishi. It arrived at the end of 2011 and its production lasted until 2017. Finally, that year it would be replaced by the second-generation Peugeot 3008, which transitioned from being a family MPV to an SUV.
Following the minor sales failure of the Peugeot 4007, PSA attempted to collaborate with Mitsubishi once again to produce a compact SUV. The 4008 was based on the Mitsubishi GS platform, shared with the Mitsubishi ASX. Similarly, the group would use that base to manufacture the Citroen C4 Aircross. As a difference, Peugeot aimed this model at markets outside of Europe. It sold even fewer units than its predecessor.
Unlike the previous model, Mitsubishi provided practically all of the engines for the Peugeot 4008, including the Diesel powerplants. The exception was the 1.6 HDI with 115 hp.
There is also a second generation of the Peugeot 4008 that is sold exclusively in China. It is a clone of the Peugeot 3008 II, with some modifications to the vehicle's length. It is manufactured by Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroen Automobiles. It was given this name because in China, the MPV version of the Peugeot 3008 continues to be marketed.
