About Peugeot 1007
The Peugeot 1007 is a mini MPV or A-segment mini multipurpose vehicle from the French manufacturer PSA (now known as Stellantis). It was launched in 2004 and had a very short commercial life, as it stopped selling in 2009. It was a sales failure (about 122,000 units) and Peugeot decided to cancel the project.
The Peugeot 1007 was based on a concept pioneered by another failed MPV, the Renault Avantime. Like the Renault, it had only two doors. These were sliding and electric. Peugeot's original idea was that up to 4 people could travel in the small MPV. The sliding door would serve for passengers to get in and out of the vehicle with comfort. However, PSA undersized the 1007. The car was heavy, almost 1400 kg, and used a very low-power range of engines (those of its PF1 platform stablemates, namely the Peugeot 207 and Citroen C3). Having so much weight made it consume too much fuel. The rumor soon spread that the Peugeot 1007 was an excessively clumsy vehicle. To top it off, electrically, this MPV did not have the best finish either. However, it did provide good active and passive safety.
