About Mercedes-Benz Clase SLC
The Mercedes-Benz SLC-Class is a sports car with a roadster body style manufactured by the German automaker Daimler. Originally, it was marketed as the Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class (R172) during its first phase. Later, in 2016, it was renamed the Mercedes-Benz SLC-Class.
In its first phase, the Mercedes-Benz SLK (R172) was officially presented in January 2011 in Stuttgart and debuted at the Geneva Motor Show that same year. Its design drew inspiration from the SLS AMG, featuring an imposing front grille reminiscent of the 190 SL model from the 1950s. Initially, it was available in variants such as the SLK 200 BlueEFFICIENCY with a 1.8 L 4-cylinder engine producing 184 hp, the SLK 250 BlueEFFICIENCY 4-cylinder with 204 hp, and the SLK 350 BlueEFFICIENCY with a 3.5 L V6 engine producing 306 hp. All of them were equipped with the 7G-Tronic 7-speed automatic transmission and Stop/Start technology to maximize efficiency.
In 2012, the sporty SLK 55 AMG variant was launched, powered by a potent 5.5-liter V8 engine with 422 hp of power. It accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and reached a top speed of 280 km/h.
The 2016 restyling brought a name change to Mercedes-Benz SLC. The engine lineup was renewed, highlighting a modern family of turbocharged 4-cylinder engines. Additionally, the AMG SLC 43 version debuted a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with 367 hp. All of them incorporated the 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic transmission.
Among the alternatives to the Mercedes-Benz SLC are the Audi TT Roadster, the BMW Z4, and the Porsche Boxster.
