Hyundai Ioniq — TIMING CHAIN OR BELT?

MODEL LIST - (UPDATED 2023)

| Home / Hyundai / List of Hyundai Ioniq Models without Timing Belt

The Hyundai Ioniq is a passenger car (C-segment in Europe) manufactured by the South Korean marque Hyundai. Its name comes from the combination of the words “ion” and “unique“. It is sold in both hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric versions, something that has only happened previously with the Volkswagen Golf. The Hybrid version debuted at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, while the Plug-in Hybrid version was born in early 2017. The variant launched in 2019, Hyundai Inoniq Blue Hybrid, became the most efficient mass-produced car in history, a title given to it by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency of the United States of America).

All versions of the Hyundai Ioniq are sold in five-door liftback bodywork. The secret of its efficiency lies in the use of Atkinson cycle gasoline engines with direct injection and CVT gearboxes, which, although they have many detractors, work very well in reducing fuel consumption.

Unlike other cars, the Ioniq does not have many competitors, as it is a rather paradigmatic vehicle that has set the standard for the way forward for the automotive industry. The Honda Insight and Toyota Prius do come close. There is only one generation of this car to date.
