About HYUNDAI TERRACAN
The Hyundai Terracan is a mid-size SUV from the Korean brand Hyundai. It was manufactured between 2001 and 2007 in South Korea, and between 2003 and 2011 in China by Hawtai. It had a predecessor, the Hyundai Galloper, and was later replaced by the Hyundai Veracruz.
The Hyundai Terracan had a single generation throughout its production. It was introduced in 2001 and received a slight redesign in 2005. It was available with 2.5-liter diesel engines with 138 hp, 2.9-liter with 156 hp, and a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine with 193 hp. The transmission could be a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic.
The Terracan's platform was derived from the Mitsubishi Pajero, featuring independent suspensions and permanent four-wheel drive. It had a wheelbase of 2.75 m and a total length of 4.7 m.
The name Terracan comes from the Tarascan Empire, located in west-central Mexico. The main competitors of the Terracan were models such as the Mitsubishi Pajero / Montero, the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, and the Nissan Pathfinder.
