Hyundai i40 — TIMING CHAIN OR BELT?

MODEL LIST - (UPDATED 2023)

| Home / Hyundai / List of Hyundai i40 Models without Timing Belt

The Hyundai i40 is a passenger car (D-segment in Europe) manufactured by the South Korean marque Hyundai. It began its commercialization in 2011 in the European market. This model was born as an alternative to the Hyundai Sonata for those countries where this model had not sold as well as Hyundai expected.

Designed by Hyundai’s research and development division in Europe, the i40 is a transverse front-engine, front-wheel drive vehicle. It was sold in two different body styles: sedan and estate.

In terms of engines, the Hyundai i40 had both 1.6 and 1.7-liter diesel engines and 1.6 and 2.0-liter petrol versions.

The i40 had only one generation, although it did have a small facelift mid-cycle. It ceased production in 2019. Since then, the South Korean brand has focused on the SUV market. During its period of activity, the i40 competed with models such as the Toyota Avensis / Toyota Camry, Renault Laguna and Talisman, Skoda Superb, or Citroen C5 among many others.
