Mazda MPV — TIMING CHAIN OR BELT?

MODEL LIST - (UPDATED 2023)

| Home / Mazda / List of Mazda MPV Models without Timing Belt

The Mazda MPV is a minivan manufactured by the Japanese automaker Mazda Motor Corporation. It was produced from 1988 to 2016. It has a total of 3 generations.

The first generation Mazda MPV was produced with an eye on the American market. It was built on the Mazda Luce platform, which allowed front, rear and all-wheel drive configurations. This vehicle was equipped with large displacement in-line 4-cylinder and V6 engines, all gasoline.

The second generation arrived in 1999. The wheelbase was shortened and opted for front-wheel drive only. In return, sliding doors were put on both sides, and a fully folding third row of seats, something that had already been very successful with the Honda Odyssey. Its slightly sportier chassis made it differ from other vehicles in the North American market.

In February 2006, the third-generation Mazda MPV went on sale in Japan, having debuted in October 2005 at the Tokyo Motor Show. It was powered by a naturally aspirated 2.3-liter MZR DISI (Direct Injection) four-cylinder engine or the turbocharged version thereof. However, this model did not reach that the international market, only a few countries.

Some of the alternatives to the Mazda MPV are vehicles like the Toyota Previa, the Nissan Quest or the Honda Odyssey. It also came to compete with some SUVs, such as the Chevrolet Venture or the Ford Explorer.
