Mazda MX-6 — TIMING CHAIN OR BELT?

MODEL LIST - (UPDATED 2023)

| Home / Mazda / List of Mazda MX-6 Models without Timing Belt

The Mazda MX-6 is a sports coupe manufactured by the Japanese marque Mazda. It was marketed between 1987 and 1997, in a total of 2 generations. In both cases, the vehicle was front-engined and front-wheel drive.

The MX-6 was launched as a replacement for the Mazda 626 Coupe. Mechanically, the sports car was identical to the 626, as it still used the same GD platform, just like the Ford Probe. In terms of powertrain, it used Mazda F inline 4-cylinder gasoline engines. In the United States, it was sold with a 2.2-liter F2 engine and even a turbocharged 145 hp version. Both in North America and Europe, this car had a good reputation for its great reliability.

For the second generation, Mazda used the Mazda 626‘s base again, this time making use of the GE platform. It had different variants and engines depending on the market in which it was marketed.
